Summer is here and Heol Las Park looks fantastic in the sunshine. However there are a few problems that residents have recently identified and brought to our attention, including a damaged manhole cover, vandalised surround to the culvert, illegible signage to play area, poor condition of boards surrounding play area, weeds growing through the bark in the play area and uneven surface under the swings. Also highlighted was a problem area outside the entrance off Gwerllwynchwyth Road where cars park and the when it is wet this is also uneven. We have contacted Swansea Council Parks Department and we will keep you up to date with progress.

The fantastic Cricket Sight Screens added to the park for Landore Cricket to use have been vandalised and toppled over. Please Click Here to view a picture of the damage. Let us know your feelings on this and other vandalism in the park on the online forum, please Click Here to add your views.
1st October 2010
Work on the Drainage Culvert in the park has now been completed. This has helped to strengthen the banks of the Culvert entrance and make it more secure. We understand that a fence will soon be erected to prevent access to the Culvert.
16th February 2010
There have been no further enhancements to
the park since those reported in February 2009. Vandalism to the roundabout and
seesaws in the play area resulted in their temporary removal but they are due
to be replaced shortly. Graffiti on the seats was also removed and the pitches
were maintained to a high standard by Council staff. We do not know how much money
will be allocated to Heol Las Park this coming year – only that the Park’s
Department has been given a budget for park maintenance which will be allocated
between its 50 parks according to need.
26th March 2009
In the public meeting it was
communicated what progress the association had made recently. A summary
document was issued which listed the planned works to be completed by
Swansea Council. Read the document here.
3rd December 2008
The culvert at the entrance to the park
is stil awaiting attention, and will be brought to the Councils
attention. The skip is still full and overflowing and being used by
others as a general dumping ground. An email relating to all park issues
to be sent to Iwan Davies and Phil Roberts (Director of Regeneration,
Swansea Council).
The association will contact "Volunteers in Parks" to get more information on how it works and how we set it up for our park.
5th November 2008
The Association has received reports
that parts of the new fence at the top of the park has been targeted by
vandals, who tried to dismantle it. Local residents had repaired the
fence themselves.
Swansea Council have been requested to by the Association to provide an update on outstanding issues relating to the park.
1st October 2008
Several
improvements to the park have been completed by Swansea Council, new
benches installed, a new fence has been completed at the top end of the
park, and a small piece at the bottom, rubbish has been cleared from the
stream.
Pending Issues include :
A fence still needs to go all around the park.
A skip near the entrance is being used by the public and needs to be emptied.
No toilet facilities are available for visitors to the park.
Gates should be replaced and fixed to deter motorbikes and keep cars out.
