Parc-yr-Helig is a vast open green space. The picture to the right shows the size of this conservation area.

It is located between Parc-yr-Helig Road and Ffordd-y-Bryn and many other streets also have access.

There is a children's play area, which is very well used, and a vast natural wilderness which the Friends of Parc-yr-Helig are very keen to develop for the local and wider community.

In a recent consultation the community put forward some ideas including a Nature Reserve, Nature Trails, Skateboard Ramps and adding Dog Waste Bins.

All the land is owned and managed by Swansea Council. It is currently included in their Local Development Plans for Residential Development. Do you want to see houses built on this site? then click here to see what plans Swansea Council has.

Roy and Neil Jones have carried out an extensive ecological survey of the area.

Great news. We have been successful in gaining £250 worth of B&Q vouchers to support biodiversity and protection of endangered native species on two sites in Birchgrove. This comes through the Keep Wales Tidy 'Wild Weekend' initiative. This is really pleasing as it consolidates the great work by volunteers recently and gives us new opportunities. Under the bid that was put in, we will be looking to establish in Parc yr-helig some bee, bird and dormouse boxes, as well as planting some native trees and native bluebells and daffodils.

We need Volunteers to help us. Any help that you can offer would be fantastic. Remember you are helping your Community. Please contact us. Thanks.
